Winter in Meijendel

No snow, this season. But white frost we had. A night with a fog from the sea, little wind and a temperature below zero; the perfect ricepe for long needles of white frost on every exposed branch – even on single herbs!

Showing at Noorderlicht ‘Arena’

I’m showing a series of 10 of my Dune pictures at the Noorderlicht 2016 Arena exhibition at the Museum Belvédère at Heerenveen, open from May 22.

ARENA is the prologue to the project series Landscape as Arena, which focuses on the decisive impact man has on the landscape. The exhibition is part of the 23rd edition of Noorderlicht Photofestival.

Location: Museum Belvédère (Oranje Nassaulaan 12, 8448 MT Heerenveen NL)
Period: May 22 – July 3  August 14

Museum Bélvèdere is very enthousiastic about my work and asked Noorderlicht Photo Festival to extend part of the international photo exhibition ARENA in their Museum until the 14th August – so you’ll get another chance to see my series ‘Dunes in Meijendaal’!

White frost in the dunes

Winter is almost at its end.
No snow expected anymore (we’ve had none at all here) and the only frost is during the nights.

Early morning I went into the dunes to photograph that short moment the white frost is touched by the forst rays of sun.

Peatlands in the winter

The wind is howling, snow has fallen and it’s full moon.

At the moment I’m on a short working break in the north-eastern part of the Netherlands. Looking for minimalistic pictures in this barren landscape.

These are some of the first results. (to enlarge, click on the pictures bar below.)
