A Picture all Days
I started the APAD project in May 2007 as a way to reflect on my photography. It was meant to be a departure from my formalistic approach and free me from the constraints I had imposed on my personal work. With a handheld digital camera, I was able to translate my observations into images much faster and more intuitively than with my previously preferred but cumbersome 4×5 inch large format film camera.
APAD became an intense, image-driven exploration of mostly vernacular photography, primarily based on the simple act of seeing rather than working from a preconceived concept. I concluded APAD in February 2008 as I prepared for my series 'Erschüttert' (in which I hoped to solidify this new approach).
