For me, photography has always had the advantage of being bound to reality. Not in an interpretive, conceptually conclusive way, but strongly tied to the moment.
As a photographer you are always physically present somewhere, in your 'here' at that moment.
'Here' is, so to speak, the area where your senses reach. Simply the world you perceive around you. It is an open space where the confinement of the egocentric perspective is no longer dominant. You can also put it this way: to be here, you don't have to be anyone. You are already there.
I experienced this when photographing in Scotland for a sadly too short period.
