Although I had lived by the North Sea for years, I had never considered using the sea as a theme in my work. However, due to unexpected circumstances and, above all, without restrictions, I had the opportunity to work from what was once the dining area of a restaurant on the decaying Scheveningen Pier. This allowed me to photograph from a location about 400 meters into the sea, at safe height above even the highest and stormiest tide.

Sometimes I suddenly long for this place, so far removed from the world!
